Jennifer Taggart runs The Smart Mama, offering advice and resources for going green and non toxic at home, with a focus on kids and babies. She is a mom of 2, former environmental engineer and currently a partner in a Los Angeles firm. She is an environmental attorney specializing in consumer product labeling law and Proposition 65. She is the author of The Smart Mama’s Green Guide: Simple Steps for Non Toxic Babies. She has an eco-consulting business to help individuals and business go green and non toxic, from greening the cleaning to testing toys using an XRF analyzer. She lectures throughout California on going green and non toxic. Jennifer served as a Commissioner with the Los Angeles City Environmental Affairs Commission for 9 years.

Dr. Scott Olson is a Naturopathic doctor, expert in alternative medicine, author and medical researcher. Spurred on by his patients’ struggles with sugar addiction, he was determined to discover just how addictive and harmful sugar can be and ways to overcome that addiction. The result of that study is his book Sugarettes, which describes the addictive qualities of sugar and the harm that sugar does to our bodies. Cynthia Lair graduated as a Certified Health and Nutrition Counselor from the Health and Nutrition Program (NYC) in 1987. She has been faculty member of Bastyr University’s School of Nutrition and Exercise Science since 1994 and recently became a Clinical Associate for the University of Washington’s School of Nursing CAM program. She is a contributing editor for Mothering Magazine and her articles have also been featured in Living Without, WSYSA’s Play On!, and the Polishing Stone. Ms. Lair has been an invited speaker at the Vancouver Wellness Show, Clear Channel’s Baby Expo, Asante Health Systems, La Leche League conventions, NSCAA convention, USYSA convention, and the Greenhouse Spa. She has taught whole foods cooking classes at the Puget Consumer’s Coop, Evergreen Hospital, Pike Place Market and many other venues. Her popular cookbook, Feeding the Whole Family (Moon Smile Press) sold over 35,000 copies. Her second book, Feeding the Young Athlete: Sports Nutrition Made Easy for Players and Parents was released in 2002. These are my thoughts on living a healthy and simple life. I'm a modern mom with some traditional ideas. At home, I try to clear the confusion from all the conflicting health and parenting advice with some common sense and a natural philosophy. This is the sanest way I know how to navigate the 21 century.
