Wishing you a Happy Holiday from HealthyGreenMoms!
You may have noticed that there has been some increased activity here at HGM, although I really cannot take all the credit for it!
We have had three terrific professionals join the team to provide their unique insight on raising healthy families. Dr Scott ND wrote an informative article about Sugar and Kids and some great suggestions for managing sugar at home. Jennifer, The Smart Mama continues to provide her valuable analysis with her latest article on non toxic pest control at home. Anita is our resident kids yoga expert and had kicked off December by holding a giveaway for two terrific books on emotional awareness (for young children). There’s still a little time to enter this giveaway so hop over while you still can!
While all this activity was happening here, our family managed to steal away for a much needed vacation to South Florida. I can tell you the heat and sun did us a lot of good. Olivia is a terrific traveler and seems to love change so we were blessed with nearly chaos-free travel. I used the California Baby products for moisturising and sun protection. I LOVE the brand and their careful attention to simple non toxic formulas.
Once we arrived home we finally got to go to our 20 week ultrasound. Unfortunately, we did not receive the perfect news we were hoping for and I now have to go to more testing all day tomorrow at BC Women’s Hospital. It seems there is an issue with one of the kidneys: either in the wrong spot or missing entirely, although they do say that the baby seems otherwise very strong.
I have been laying low, trying to keep my mind in a positive space and waiting until I get the chance to learn more. Part of me just wants to believe that they’ve made a mistake. Although the emotions are right at the surface right now, I also feel strangely calm. I just need more info at this point though I know we can handle whatever circumstance we are given.
Lastly, I am FINALLY getting the blog makeover I’ve been waiting months for….so any day now, be prepared for a little bit of a new look. I am still searching however for an image/brand logo that speaks to me and what HGM is all about. If you have a suggestion or know of a great graphic designer, please let me know.
A big thank you for your continued support of HGM. Wishing you a holiday season that is blessed with happiness and wonderful memories. Thank you also to the great writers who have come on board. They bring value to us that I could not have done myself. Feel free to drop by their sites and articles and leave a comment. They would love to hear from you!
In the meantime, here are a couple of shots from our vacation:

Hi Monica,
Very cool that you were able to get away for a vacation – and I love the pictures!! It all looks so relaxing…
As well, know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers as you await tests on your unborn baby. May all go well, and sending comfort your way while you wait…
Hi Monica!
I’m sure everything will be fine with your little one. I’ll be thinking about you and eager to hear all is well. Positive thoughts and prayers
The ultrasound is a good tool, but not perfect so don’t worry!

Dear Monica, thanks for the holiday wishes. I hope you have a gorgeous Christmas yourself and by that time, you have many reasons to celebrate, including the health of your baby. From the bottom of my heart, I wish for quick and very positive test results.
All the best to your little family!
Looking forward to more blogging in the New Year.

Monica,
I’m glad to hear that you and your family got a chance to relax for a bit. We’re hoping our turn to do the same comes sometime soon
But in the meantime, I am a graphic designer, and I’d love to work with you on your brand. I know that we share a lot of the same values
