I stumbled across your blog today while looking for some information to back up a blog I am working on about natural childbirth as a "greener" way to give birth. I am a birth doula in Nebraksa, USA so I always love reading birth stories but I found yours especially inspiring and I definitely want to look into HypnoBirthing more. I have a book on it but havent read it so that will be moving to the top of my stack of birth books to read! Thanks for sharing your story. It made me happy when I read that you decided to find a new provider with only a few short weeks left before your due date. I wish more women felt confident enough to "fire" an provider who is not supportive of their wishes for THEIR birth!

Naturalaspossiblemom - Glad to be an inspiration. Those stitches were such a pain hey, I totally relate and was determined not to have a repeat. I know many women in my life who tore both times and I say it can be avoided!!! Funny that even though you had a midwife the first time, it was more medical. I've learned that it's so important to discuss their "philosophy of birth" prior to signing on with anyone. Please give me the link, I'd love to read your story :)

I also opted for HypnoBirthing for both of my pregnancies. I labored with midwives both times. The first was more "medical" than the second, so I ended up with a bunch of stitches the first time. A bunch. (She had me pushing lying down--so stupid.) My second birth was so exciting and amazing I say now that I could probably give birth like that every day. I was seated in a birthing bed. I watched the entire process. Keira came out in three pain-free pushes. It was the most empowering incredible feeling. I am awed and blessed to have gone through it.

You've inspired me to blog about HypnoBirthing this week! Thanks for the memories!

Oh I am so happy that I stopped by here when I did, :-) This is an amazing and beautiful story. Luckily, woo woo mama mailed her hypnobirthing book to me a few weeks ago and I've been reading it and trying the techniques; your birth story inspires me that any day now, when my little guy arrives, that it is possible to have a peaceful birth and be surrounded by attendants who believe in and trust what a woman's body can do. Thank you for posting this when you did, Monica, :-)
